·         Connects businesses to all County school districts, regional higher education, and employment services;

·         Communicates training needs directly to providers for customized training programs;

·         Is a conduit for training funds;

·         Leads workforce development initiatives within Wayne County.

Snapshot of Workforce Wayne activities:

·      Established Community Career & Training Sites at 12 libraries within Pike and Wayne Counties;

·      Facilitates Pike/Wayne Business-Education Partnership;

·      Developed Green Career Linking Academies, grant from Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board;

·      Participates on Wayne County Oil & Gas Taskforce;

·      Supported 11 training programs with 365 participants through PA Department of Labor & Industry grant. Programs included OSHA training for construction industry, API 1104 welding, Oil and Gas Accounting, Functional Manager, Cisco, and CompTIA.

·      Secured Broadband Outreach and Aggregation grant to improve technology within County.

Administers funding for job training services for those who are economically disadvantaged, dislocated workers, or facing significant employment barriers. Partners with Wayne County CareerLink Services to offer free services to both employer and job seeker, including on-the-job training, classroom training, job search workshops, referrals and job fairs.

Pocono Counties Workforce Investment Board (WIB)
Implements the Federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998 within the region. Oversees job training funds and educational programs for Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Wayne Counties.

Work & Play in Northeast PA
This initiative is geared to keeping our young talent here, promoting northeastern Pennsylvania by highlighting its recreational assets in combination with job opportunities.
